True, Brave Sons Of The Soil

Feb14, 2019 would be remembered as a black day in the Indian history due to the cowardly attack by the terrorists on the convoy of our valiant CRPF personnel.
My sincere, heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of martyrs.
Very sadly I have been observing that apart from merely paying lip service, successive governments have done nothing worthwhile for the sentinels of our nation.
Do you know that a trooper in the wilderness, in extreme temperatures earns less, has much less facilities, holidays and privileges than even a petty clerk in civil administration.
Often food packets and other essentials have to be air dropped as our soldiers are stationed in most inaccessible regions for the protection of our Motherland. They remain vigilant 24X7, generally with obsolete weapons like carbines, so that we may sleep without fear, party with friends.
To make matters worse, the civil administration is utterly callous towards the hardships of soldiers. It tries it's best to scuttle all the important matters regarding the welfare of armed forces.
When the then Defence Minister George Fernandes visited Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battlefield, he was apprised of the problems, especially frostbites, faced by the troops as they had to trudge through the snow, in minus 50 degree celsius. The army commander told him that his repeated requests for the purchase of snow scooters had fallen on deaf ears. Fernandes became so infuriated that he immediately transferred the concerned senior "babus" to the Siachen Glacier. Unable to tolerate the extreme climatic conditions even for a day, the "babus" apologized profusely, were shifted back to their cosy environs, in New Delhi.
It's high time to compulsorily deduct at least 25% from the salaries of the overpaid, good for nothing civil administration officials and potbellied politicians ensconcing themselves in AC rooms, so as to create a sizable corpus for the welfare of the kith and kin of martyred soldiers, so that OROP (One Rank One Pension) may become a reality for our men and officers in the uniform -- brave sons of the soil who are ever ready to give their present for our tomorrow.
