Springtime Raptures

Though it lasts for very few days, "Basant" or Spring is an eagerly awaited season.
Spring teaches us that instead of pursuing a long life, we must aim for a full, lively life.
Traditionally, Spring is associated with romance, new life and vigour. In India, "Basant Panchami" is celebrated every year to welcome the arrival of "King" of all the seasons.
During this festival, there used to be much fun and frolic in rural Punjab. We flew colourful kites and enjoyed delicacies like "desi ghee halwa", "besan barfi". People enjoyed themselves to the hilt at the "melas" (fairs) where folk singers and "bhands" (comedians) regaled all. Bright yellow "sarson" (mustard) and marigold flowers were seen all around in the fields. To show their camaraderie with the generous Mother Nature, people also wore yellow colored clothes, turbans. Life was simple then but people had hearts of gold.
Much has changed now. Sadly, the modern generations have snapped all ties with Mother Nature. Most of the youngsters haven't even seen the fields or taken a refreshing bath in a "sua" (a small flowing water canal).

This year "Basant Panchami" falls on February 10.
I would like to wish my dear, gorgeous friends a very Happy "Basant Panchami" with this short rhyme of mine :

"Spring season lasts for few weeks or so.
This time, don't let it go.
Conceal it inside you, in one go.
Make it your alter ego".

Well, I have tried to capture the moments of the season through my new composition. Hope you like it.

Meadows are now green, the sky is azure and clear.
For whom the Nature is dressing up, my dear?

Whole milieu has become fragrant and bright.
Tulips and Roses are swaying in delight.

Tears from my eyes are turning into drops of dews.
Lulling whispers of the zephyrs are blowing away my blues.

Chirpings of the Mynahs have become more lively.
Buds are blossoming into flowers, slowly and shyly.

Some have found their cupids, others are seeking.
Through the dreary winter, sprightly spring is peeping.
