The Actual History Of Kashmir
Politics is surely not my cup of tea. In fact I hate potbellied politicians from the core of my heart. Yes, I do support statesmen across all political parties. India is blessed with a strong, committed leadership, capable of taking necessary actions in the interest of the nation, after a long time.
I wholeheartedly welcome the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A by the government that gave "special" status to the State of Jammu and Kashmir. With it's integration with the rest of India, Kashmir has been put on the path of prosperity.
Abdullahas, Muftis and all those who play in the hands of Pakistan are clearly unhappy with the historic decision.
I want to lay bare the facts regarding Kashmir before the आवाम of हिंद ( common people of India).
Kashmir is a Sanskrit word (ka means water, shimeera means deccicate).
According to Rajatarangini - the history of Kashmir, written by Kalhana in the mid 12th century, Kashmir was formerly a lake.
Hindu scriptures explicitly state that many Hindu saints and rishis had their "ashrams" in Kashmir. It was once an important centre of "Shaivism" (followers of Lord Shiva). Lalleshwari or Lal Ded, Nund Rishi were ardent and some of the famous worshippers of Lord Shiva. Adi Shankaracharya, a notable Hindu saint meditated here for many years.
Maharaja Gulab Singh bought Kashmir from the British under the Treaty Of Amritsar (1846) for a sum of seventy five lakh Nanakshahi rupees!
Till 1846, Kashmir was ruled over by the legendary Sikh ruler, Maharaja Ranjit Singh
Maharaja Gulab Singh was also the founder of Dogra dynasty. So Kashmir was basically ruled by Hindu Dogra Rajput kings.
H.H. Hari Singh Dogra was the last ruler of Kashmir when India attained Independence in 1947.
The capital of Kashmir is Srinagar which means abode of Goddess Luxmi.
One can still find many towns and cities in Jammu and Kashmir that are named after the names of Hindu gods and goddesses.
The Muslim population in Kashmir increased gradually due to the influx of Sufi preachers from the Central Asia. That is why the majority of the Muslims in Kashmir are of Shia faith and are adherents of Sufism. Only 10% of Muslims subscribe to Sunni faith.
Pakistan is befooling itself and the world by claiming it to be it's territory.
It's high time for Pakistan to remember that "Balakot" (at present in POK), where Indian forces thrashed and neutralized numerous Pak terrorists means abode of Lord Hanuman (Bala is another name for Lord Hanuman, Kot means abode).
Perhaps that's why the surgical attack on Balakot materialized on Tuesday, the week day dedicated to Lord Hanuman!
If Kashmir is called heaven on Earth, it is only because of the spiritual vibes, auras of our sages who did intense meditation, chanted holy mantras for many centuries in the caves of these Himalayan mountains.
I appeal to my countrymen that whatever religion we follow, we are first Indians. We should be proud, have faith in the गंगा जमुनी तहज़ीब (respect for all cultures) of India.
